About TEDxLawrence

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxLawrence, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxLawrence event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.

The organizers of TEDxLawrence are thrilled to be able to present this event to the Lawrence community! “We are looking to bring out the best traits found in Lawrence and to spread them across the nation. We are looking for speakers and performers with an “Idea Worth Sharing” that reflects the innovative, collaborative, and dynamic feel you get when you walk through Lawrence!” TEDxLawrence is scheduled to take place March 23, 2015 at Liberty Hall in Lawrence, Kansas.

The TEDxLawrence Steering Committee of Beth Pine, Frank Wiles, Andy Brown, James Whitaker, and Bonny Murrell encourage anyone interested in speaking or performing to fill out the Speaker Information found by clicking on the Speaker Information tab above.

While we appreciate any coverage, we kindly ask that all journalists and/or bloggers be respectful of the difference between the TED and TEDx brands. The 'x' in 'TEDx' stands for "independently organized events." Any headline or text, which implies "TED" is coming to Lawrence is misleading.

All press requests should be sent to Beth Pine at beth@tedxlawrence.com or 785-312-0975. Beth Pine is the official spokesperson for TEDxLawrence. Please note that TEDx event organizers are not able to speak for the TED Conference. Any inquiry regarding TED should be sent to: Melody Serafino, TEDx Media Liaison, TEDxPR@groupsjr.com.
